Rachael Doubleday (Owner)

 

Rachael is originally from Darlington in England and started riding at the age of 9/10 on a friend's pony then went on to ride and volunteer at a local riding school. When she left school she went to the Northern Racing College in Doncaster for a 3 month residential course where she gained my NVQ1 in horse care and then back to her local riding school to do her NVQ 2 through Houghall college. On completion of this she moved to Fife in Scotland to work at sister yards Wester Deanhead and Kingsbarn Equestrian centre. Here is where Rachael learned the reality of horses and the long hours involved but worked hard to move up the ladder to become manager and run shows. After leaving there Rachael worked on a couple of smaller yards before moving up to Aberdeenshire to work at The Cabin Equestrian Centre where she stayed for 9 years, gaining further qualifications and more experience in different aspects of shows and coaching riders. The opportunity then came along for Rachael to open NMW riding academy in October 2021. She has worked hard to build it up and is looking to achieve great things.

At NMW Riding Academy we pride ourselves on keeping class sizes small to enhance learning and give as many opportunities to everyone to try as many different things as possible. Our ethos is to take clients further on their riding and equine education rather than have many people in and out to just ride. This way of operating keeps the ponies and horses enjoying their work, keeps the staff and coaches enthusiastic and gives a better and more fulfilled experience to the clients. We also run our own shows, camps, pony themed birthday parties and "Own a Pony" experience days amongst other seasonal activities such as Easter egg hunts, Halloween games and Christmas shows. 

 

We are a Pony Club Linked Riding Centre and hold regular Pony Club sessions for members to progress with their riding, learn all aspects of pony care and gain badges and certificates. Our aim is to become approved by the British Horse Society very soon and one of our long term goals is to become an BHS exam centre.

NMW Riding Academy is based at Orcadia Livery Yard where we have a great support network. We are lucky enough to have an outdoor arena and working hunter course onsite which we can use to train around and we often join in with The Cabin Equestrian Centre clinics and competitions at the top of our driveway.
